dc.description.abstract The purpose of research is to scientifically interpret Belarusian anti-war prose (“The Crane’s cry” by V. Bykau) in comparative plotting and axiological aspects with works in the Polish prose (such as T. Nowak's “If You will be the King, if You will be the Executioner”). The author analyses vagrant motif of water in mentioned prose examples and concludes that water motifs in their different realizations (rain, fog, cloud, etc.) can be recognized not only in their traditionally positive sense (like being source for life), but also in new forms of positive meanings (like stopping the enemy) and negative sense (uncomfortable and dangerous circumstances). The prose authors interpret traditional aspects of vagrant water motif in originally way for illustrating terrible war reality destroying people lives. pl
