dc.description.abstract The article considers the idea of Slavic unity in the creative and publicistic heritage of Alexei Khomiakov, one of the main representatives of the Russian Slavophiles. The subject of interpretation were the two tragedies Ermak and Dimitri the Pretender, as well as poems A Russian song, A Foreigner and others. The poet and thinker speaks in them about the historical role of Russia. The second major theme in Khomiakov’s creative work is the idea of Slavic brotherhood (the poems The Ode and The Eagle), and then the brotherhood of all peoples (The Key). The author of the article also draws attention to the idea of the messianic role of Russia (the poem To Russia). The Slavic idea sounds in the philosopher’s publicistic works (for example, On the possibility of the Russian school, A Message from Moscow). In his publicistic works the author constantly stresses the importance of the Orthodox faith in the unity of the Slavs; according to the philosopher the true faith requires a spiritual unity of all believers (the idea of conciliarism). In conclusion the emphasis is put on the fact that Khomiakov was not only committed to the idea of Slavic unity and the renewal of the Orthodox Church, but also felt the need to modernize the whole Christianity. On the other hand his concept of conciliarism excluded ecumenical ideas, as the church hierarchy, according to the Russian thinker, should not decide the fate of the conciliarism pl
