Abstract: Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, later Pope Benedict XVI, in his book “Christianity and the Crisis of Cultures – The Europe of Benedict” analyses European moral condition. In terms of the Christian Church the world has stood on its head. No longer is a human being the picture of God. His value is increasing proportionately to the development of technology. Thus, a human’s moral power is going down rather than up. Ratzinger criticizes culture of the Age of Enlightenment, agnostics and atheists. It is not the conflict between different religious beliefs that poses the biggest threat but antagonism between secularization and all religious confessions. In Ratzinger’s opinion, changing religion is responsible for Europe’s destiny.
